2^10 = 1024a byte -> kilo byte -> mega byte -> giga byte -> ...for each step use 1024

Technically it should be 1024, particularly when the T is written in caps (TB). When the t is in small (tB) it stands for 1000 Gigabytes.Many storage device manufacturers (mainly hard disks) use 1000 to boast more memory.

While most people say the computer byte system works on 1000 it really works on 1024. So some people say 1000 as a rounding but the real value is 1024. If you want to know how much that would hold, the average JPEG is 30 kilobytes you could hold 35,791,394.13 (i did the math)
